Last Sunday we went to the city opera, Bayerische Staatsoper to watch the choreographer Richard Siegal's piece "Portrait" that he made with dancers from the balletcompany of the city opera. It was my first dance performance in Munich, and also my first balett performance that I have ever seen live! To me it was very different and innovatory piece to be ballet (and that's coming from me who's never seen a balletshow live before). But it wasn't like the classical ballet repertoars like Giselle or Swan Like at least. It was three acts, like it always I (I understand now) and the theme for every act was noise, signal and silence. He used techno music, which was very loud, but technoballet is something new for me. Instead of having the soft and long lines that you usually want in ballet, he used corrupted lines, hard hits to vibrant music. Sometimes it was a bit chaotic with a lot of dancers everywhere on the stage, and I couldn't really see a planned structure in the positioning. But I was seated on the very side so maybe that was a reason for experiencing the chaos. Watch a clip from the show here.
